we understand that mental health is not just about the individual—it's deeply intertwined with the social, cultural, and environmental factors that shape our lives

Welcome to a new chapter in mental health support at Vivify Therapy!

As we embark on this journey, we're thrilled to introduce you to our holistic approach, rooted in a commitment to fostering long-term, sustainable change in the lives of our clients.

Revisiting holistic mental wellbeing

At Vivify Therapy, we understand that mental health is not just about the individual—it's deeply intertwined with the social, cultural, and environmental factors that shape our lives. Our approach goes beyond traditional therapy to address the social determinants of mental health, recognizing that our internal and external environments are interconnected.

Imagine mental health as a garden, with our internal environment—mind, body, and spirit—representing the soil, and the social determinants as the external elements such as sunlight, water, and nutrients. Just as a healthy garden requires balance and nourishment from both its internal and external environments, so too does our mental well-being.

Our holistic approach acknowledges this microcosm of interconnectedness. We believe that just as the health of the soil impacts the growth of the garden, the state of our internal environment influences our response to external factors. By nurturing the soil of our minds, bodies, and spirits, we can cultivate resilience and strength to navigate the challenges presented by our outer environment.

For example, a person struggling with depression may find relief through therapy and medication. However, if they're also facing isolation, financial stress, or discrimination in their external environment, addressing these social determinants becomes crucial for sustainable healing.

That's where our three essential components come into play.

Our approach combines : psychodynamic psychology, decolonial theory, and mindfulness.

By integrating these diverse perspectives, we're able to offer a comprehensive framework for healing and growth that's tailored to meet your individual needs and concerns.

Psychodynamic psychology provides a deep understanding of how past experiences and unconscious processes influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By exploring these underlying dynamics, we can unearth patterns that may be contributing to your struggles and work towards resolution and healing.

Decolonial theory offers a critical lens through which to examine and challenge systems of power and oppression. In our work, we're committed to dismantling barriers to mental health access and advocating for social justice and equity. By centering the experiences of marginalized communities, we aim to create inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and heard.

Mindfulness practices serve as a powerful tool for cultivating self-awareness, resilience, and inner peace. Through mindfulness techniques, we can learn to observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment, fostering a greater sense of clarity and presence in our lives.

But our commitment to mental health extends beyond individual therapy sessions. As part of our relaunch, we're excited to announce three core work streams that will guide our efforts:

1. Entrepreneurs and Founders Mental Health: We recognize the unique challenges faced by entrepreneurs and founders, particularly within the Black community. By supporting the mental health of these individuals, we aim to empower them to build sustainable businesses that break cycles of poverty and create lasting change.

2. Students Mental Health: Education should be a pathway to opportunity and success for all. We're dedicated to improving outcomes for Black students by reducing mental health barriers to learning and closing the attainment gap from high school to post-grad level.

3. Cultural Competence Training: In order to create truly inclusive mental health spaces, we must advocate for increased representation of Black and minority people in healthcare leadership and decenter whiteness in clinical training. Our cultural competence training programs are designed to promote equity and dismantle systemic barriers within the healthcare system.

As we embark on this new chapter at Vivify Therapy, we invite you to join us in our mission to cultivate lasting change, one individual and community at a time. Together, we can create a future where mental health support is accessible, inclusive, and empowering for all. Get in touch to learn more.
